That was just a range I felt you could buy a decent tester for , no particular tester in mind. Off to work!

Why buy adapters you may never use. the adapters are cheap and you can buy them as needed.

No! Not needed. In my opinion you can time your engine with the injection pump, put the marks together, test drive, re adjust if necessary.

I am not aware of compression testers that are for diesel and other cars. I'm not quite sure of your question. The diesel tester can be used for any diesel engine the only difference would be the adapter that threads into the glow plug thread. The tester can thread any size adapter needed for...

No reason to blow it up when you can just fix it. letting it go can be a costly decision. Why rebuild a complete engine when you can fix it before it blows. Run a compression test, if the compression is good then you know you have a motor worth saving. Repairing a push rod or a lifter is really...

Did you check out your valve train and rocker arms when you had your valve covers off? The plastic guide buttons get old and can let go at anytime, causing your rocker arm to move on the shaft, this can cause you to lose contact with the valve and push rod.

I think before I would start tearing into the system I would invest in a diesel compression tester $75.00 dollars and do a very non invasive quick and easy compression test. Or take it to a diesel mechanic and have him listen to it and maybe he could steer you in the right direction.

I don't think air in your system is the problem, although it could be. Maybe your fuel pump, injection pump, fuel filter, you can put a clear fuel line to your injection pump and visually look for air in the system. I think if air was in the system you would be having starting problems.

Yes you can access the three nuts on the pump, the hardest one is the drivers side top nut. You need a thin wrench or grind one down a bit, the one nut will only let you turn the nut in very small increments and re positioning the wrench.

I didn't realize you don't have a spin on filter. No way your going to be able to do that with a horizontal type filter. With a spin on type filter you could empty the filter fill it up with product and run it through the system. It would not be the way they show it, but the right way to do it...

You could remove you glow plugs one at a time and do a compression test which would give you an indication to the health of the engine. You will need a diesel compression gauge and the proper glow plug attachment.

Sounds like you would need to remove the filter and fill it up with the product. The only way your going to hook it up the way they describe in the video would be to remove the bed hold down bolts, shove the bed back 18'' and then you could access your fuel lines from the tank. A lot of work...

Yeah I don't think turning up the fuel is the way to go. He should of asked you if that's what you wanted. It can be turned down by removing the cover on the injection pump and turning a screw I believe. I don't think it is a big deal but I have not researched how it is done. I you want some...

Looks like a lot of carbon buildup. One of them seems to have a lot less.

I would drain all the oil, smell it for diesel, or any burnt smell, feel it for any abrasives, and refill it with fresh oil and filter. Your do for an oil change anyway.

You might want to check you flywheel bolts and make sure they are all properly tightened.

Sounds good, that might be some kind of clue. Looks like your just coming out of the Imperial Valley. I just noticed you said Utah. My truck never runs that quiet. Very impressive.

You temper a knife to make it great, You'll look back and you will be stronger than steel. You will get it fixed, if you are like me you'll keep this truck until they won't let you drive. Your in it to win it no matter what.

You didn't hear anything under the valve covers, probably not a push rod or your valve train. You didn't listen around the lower end around the oil pan, but the noise seems like it is from the upper end somewhere. You have a rebuilt injection pump, I don't know if you may have an issue with you...
