    So due to some other threads I've been following I've decided to switch over to Pennzoil 75w90 GL-4. Apparently GL-5 oil is bad for standard tranny's because it eats softer metals such as syncros.

    Mine does as well. A friend of mine who used to rebuild trans says it's probably worn synchromesh. When I gear up I double clutch and it usually gets past the grinding.
