Nice install, but man those look like they have tiny print! Can you read them while bouncing down the road? I mounted my pyro on the steering column. What pto do you have? Whats it run?

200-300* if you don't count heat soak. Some here put both pre and post and reported less.

It is not necessary to have the motor running. If your worried about it, you can have it running, or dip the drill bit in some grease. The grease will catch the metal bits. Its not a snow flake, so don't over think it.

I'm sure you saw me post this before(maybe not), I love having mine n the steering column. Its the gauge I look at most and there is no need to look away, just look down a little.

I don't like to hear that JT. Mine is an LDS that leaks enough to coat the whole pass side of the block. Not looking forward to doing the head gaskets.

I tapped both in front of the divider and behind it. I plugged the front port, but can use it anytime I want. I was told the rear gets hotter than the front, so I used that one. No problems EGT related so far. I am happy.

If you have seen any of my trucks with the pyro zip-tied to the steering column, picture the same thing, but with a smaller gauge! roflroflroflrofl

Got the Hewitt installed in Kipman's truck. It worked great, but is smaller than the SW gauges and harder to read at a glance. Not a deal breaker, just wanted you guys to know.

Yeah, um, about that. Its been a busy summer and bla bla bla. The new Hewitt gauge hasa different hookup than the Stewart Warners. So to swap back and forth I would have to change the prob and leadwires too. I have compared my temps at idle and running with other trucks and get similar temps, so...

I have tested the Hewit probe and SW gauge, they work great! I have not used the Hewit gauge to see if there is any skewed temp readings yet, time is still short. I will get round-tewit soon. I suggest this addition to anyone thinking of changing the pump settings.

Got the truck fired up this past weekend. I will get a mount for the gauge and let everyone know something soon. I will have to register it and go for a shake down run.

If things go right, I may have the truck fired up in 2 weeks. I have to empty and scrub the fuel tank and get a boot to adapt the 5ton fender air filter to the turbo intake. Things are a little slow, but I'd rather do the individual things right. This weekend I have to visit family in the...

Thanks for the info Patrick. The Hewitt gauges come with LEDs now, no need for any of that. :)

Sorry I forgot to post the number! I am working on getting it posted as we speak(sending a PM to another member). Pistons and turbo fan blades melt around 1250-1300.
