You HAVE to leave them out if you want to go the one-piece-wheel route!
There is no way you could mount a tire on such a wheel, if it still had a beadlock- or runflat insert inside.

Don't know about Marsh but Longs only has (or used to have ) 20x11 shells which they use(d) to build their one-piece wheels.
As for backspace I would recommend anything between 8-9 inches. (Front-back tracking would not be an issue since you flipped the hubs.)

This is the best build of recentered 5ton wheels for the Deuce that I have seen so far and also best proof that in fact FMTV 2pc wheels constitute excellent alternatives to HEMTT and 5ton combat wheels, as base material.

1) .... put a price on it so that it covers material and workmanship + some extra (for beer)!

Remember, initially it was 17.50", then it returned - corrected to 17.5625", (which already seemed odd...), but I don't recall it ever been 17.78"....:?

Ahh OK, no need to measure then, I know these rims....:-)
If 3.5" was left on the outside (= front-space) and the center plate is 0.5" thick then on the backside you got backspace = 8.25"

Both are 5º and almost identical diameter (d1). (see it here..., post #17, second pic.)

Yes. But to run 395's you would prefer a wheel with 2 or 3 inches less backspace, to avoid rubbing against...
