I have seen prices all over the place for clean ones. watched one sell for 2500 to 13,000. I cried when I missed out on the 2500 one.
Might look for another one to play with when I get back to work. But the next one I will leave as a flat bed.
Jason,
What all parts are you looking for? I know of a couple sources for parts.
The homemade parts that we built are the toolbox, the underbed mount and the ammo racks.
OK got some pics for you guys (and gals). Went and did some work today got the tool box mounted, battery cables run and battery attached. The sights got mounted, when I can find the clamp for the light I can get that mounted as well.
Let me know what you think of the tool box, could not find...
Well I guess it is time for another update.
Mule update-
Went to do an alignment and found another tie rod bad, so once again work on pause mechanically.
I ordered a stencil set from Rick Larsen so when we are to the point of painting we will have them.
Gun update-
We have made a temporary...
Ok, I have had the ammo racks fabricated, got my hands on dummy rounds, part of the barrel lock. Still need to find the correct tie down straps.
Now I have a question, My dad wants to use Marine Corp markings. I need the side numbers for it.
The data plate I have is numbered 102E5246.
Well time for another update....
Since I have been out of work I can not buy much for people for Christmas. So for my dad I decided I would make his day, and get my brother in law to go over to dads house and mount the 106 on the mule.
After we did that he showed off a new rifle he got, and we...
Woo hoo, now I have an electronic copy of the TM's and a few other manuals, unfortunately one manual is corrupted. Can't win them all I guess.
Dad called me and the barrel is all done being welded, smoothed most of it out already. Have not seen it in person yet. Using the manuals He is trying...
poof, I like that setup, especially the 151 hiding in the bed of the deuce.
nickd, what is the bracket on the side of the barrel of the 106?
And FrankUSMC asked me to post a pic of his mule for everyone, but for some reason I can't get the image to save.
Update and new pic
During the week dad finished cleaning up the weld on the barrel. Cleaned up the front plate on the deck. Now I got to paint that.
Went to go work on the mule for a few hours. Today we tackled getting the new universal joint, the gears in the lower axle, putting the race back...
Just got most of the parts we needed in, only thing that was not there was the tie rod. Now have to do some clean up of the parts and paint. But the good news all the mechanical parts are there to be put on and run it again.
Anyone have a side view of a mule in a 105 trailer behind a deuce...
New update:
Well another good day at dads. Since we are still waiting on part from David Kelone, the mule is on hold. So we spent the day working on the 106 recoilless rifle. I was hoping to have the mule done before the gun got mounted, I want to play around with the mule more.
Got the...
Yesterday, we did the front right. took forever. mostly finding the correct tools, and locations for everything.
Today we had our time cut down due to knowing what we needed to get into to get the parts replaced. The front left wheel was not that hard to take off, but fought me tooth and nail...
Well yesterday, I learned how much fun it is to change the needle bearings. That was not very fun. Should go a little faster for the rest now that we know what we are doing.
Lost a bunch of time just taking the wheel off, that thing was stuck on with a LOT of paint. everything else came apart...
He mentioned that one was purchased and headed up to Canada. He seemed to do pretty well for that trip. He didn't mention it at the show, but I was already aware he has one. My dad is in the mindset to fabricate his own, or something pretty similar.
Well I went over to my dad's to work on the mule. On today's agenda, get rid of the lights, measure and get a belt for the alternator, re-align the alternator, remove the rubber mat on the bed to inspect the bed better, and loosen up the support bar for the steering wheel. And if possible take...
