I have mounted a pump beside the engine driven by a winch PTO- http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?60514-My-latest-dump-project&p=714471&viewfull=1#post714471
It's not a thru pump though so if you go this route and want to still power your winch, you'll have to drive the winch with a...
That Indian Head is some great stuff. I use it on almost everything I don't plan on taking apart in the foreseeable future. It will seal up a gasket great but is a real pain sometimes to get the part separated after it's set up and real tough to remove after you get the part off, for that reason...
You may can get by without moving the tanks but it is tight. I could have got by without moving the tank if I mounted the pump higher but wanted to pump below the hyd tank. While most pumps will work mounted above the hyd tank, they tend not to last as long and you have more cavitation problems.
You could be right but the side load of a u-joint driveshaft isn't going to be very much. Now a belt or chain drive would be a different story.
Go ahead a do what you need to do, I was just trying to help you simplify your driveline. I'd hate for you to just run a driveshaft and the pump fail...
I noticed the pics wouldn't enlarge, I don't know what's up with that. I'm running a pump that is a Haldex but it looks just like the one in your link. I don't think you'll have a problem running a driveshaft directly to it (I haven't). Where are you getting the info? There's going to be very...
I've seen different outputs on the t-case PTOs. Flange, yoke, and sprocket.
Mine has a flange and what I did is make a adapter. I measured the bolt pattern (don't recall the measurements), drilled out a mating flange, and welded it to a u-joint I picked up at NAPA.
I'm not sure why you're...
You could go with a electric pump. I'm usually not a big fan but with such a low gpm requirement, it may fill your needs fine and be the cheapest route. I'm not sure about duty cycles on the electric pumps though.
I usually run my dump (t-case PTO driven) in 3rd gear. I've never checked the RPM but it just seems about right. Any faster the pump makes a lot more noise and any slower the dump moves too slow for my taste.
I guess it would help to know what RPM the knuckle boom pump was rated for.
G, On that first pic, is that some sort of tach drive on the PTO to measure PTO speed? I've never seen that before.
I didn't have the rod that goes from the lever to the PTO shifter on mine. I found out with a little modification a deuce clutch rod that I had lying around works fine.
Tom, you may be right but I'd sure like to see a pic of one. I've seen plenty of trucks with Spicer trans but none that took the same PTO as a deuce.
I do know Chelsea did make a PTO that would fit the deuce but according to more than one Chelsea dealer, the gear has been obsolete for years...
There are t-case PTOs that come up for sale in the classifieds from time to time. They aren't all that hard to find. The last two I had sold for $500 each.
I've had 3 of them and they all came off tanker parts trucks. If you do find one make for sure it comes with the piece that goes on the...
Yes and no. You can reverse the output but the gear arrangement after you're finished will only give you a single speed in one direction. You can also take some parts from a 5-ton PTO and make it rear output and still keep all your gears. After you've done all that you will find that the output...
