That was/is EXACTLY the plan....take the truck to the people as often as possible and make her sort of a key part of the Vietnam era display when the museum is eventually rocking.
The world is kind of at a stand still right now so let's just wait for Proud to make her next mission.
As I said up front, things happen and I'm very glad the son is on a worthwhile mission and wish him the best.
Posting on SS is probably not a priority right now and I can readily accept the father's account of what is happening.
Rome wasn't built in a day and I knew their museum etc., was...
Let's remember...things happen...even to good people with good intentions but it would be nice to have SOME kind of update.
If I got taken advantage of, it won't be the first time, and probably not the last. I'll leave the judging and the punishment (if any is due) to our Good Lord.
I did...
It's been about 1.5 years since Proud American convoyed out west. Can we get an update on her status and that of the museum she is supposed to be displayed in?
jeffhuey1n, I can't recall much about the hinges and door armor except to say they were bolted onto the actual door so they opened with the door. The armor for the doors and windshield were built by Sammy Seay (Ace of Spades Guntruck) and given to me for Proud American. He was that kind of guy...
I think letting them set without exercise once in a while is the worse fate any MV can have. That's why I have down sized my fleet to six vehicles and I still can't keep them all going!!
DAMMIT MAN!!!
I feel like coming out there for moral support (I certainly don't know much repair wise).
I'm afraid she sat too long without being run and taken out to stretch her legs....she likes that. I say that because the ONE time she had fuel issues is when we were on the way to a parade...
My little heart is broken!!
Proud American NEVER sat an entire month without at least being started up and driven around the compound to keep things "Mission Capable". She NEVER failed to cooperate.....well except one time when the filter behind the D/S steer tire clogged enroute to a...
No I don't and I can tell you that about 12 years ago our own "CAMO" group went through much of what these folks are going through now. I went into this with my eyes open and I still stick by my decision.
One thing I DO NOT want is for folks to turn this thread negative.
I'm at peace with my...
Truthfully I have mixed feelings. I read the part about your trying to "expand" the museum but I guess I assumed you already had one in place.
When it comes right down to it I guess she can sit in your building just the same as she was sitting in my truck shop waiting for a mission.
I can only...
Maybe I misunderstood but I thought Proud American was going to be a permanent part of the Vietnam Era Display in your museum??
Is she now going to be "housed" with 3 WWII vehicles and not on permanent display in a Vietnam section?
Check the two fuel filters. One on the right side of the engine and one behind the driver's side front wheel. There should be spare filters in the tool box or somewhere on the truck.
So....She's not going to be in any Veterans Parade??:doh:
This will be my first Veterans Day since Proud American left us.
The Veterans Parade Saturday will not be the same here in Columbus, Georgia. The CAMO Group helped start the Veterans Day Parade here in Columbus nearly eight years ago and Proud American has been in every one of them. In that...
