    Pinion brake?

    I wouldn't cut into the existing system. If you do an there's a brake failure or accident, guess who they're going to blame. That lever/handle thing is interesting though. You could use a large caliper/rotor on the rear axle pinion flange or maybe two calipers. As a parking/e-brake. Then leave...

    They are viable for a emergency brake. Not sure I'd want a hydraulic brake to be set all the time as a parking brake though. Sadly the brakes wouldn't hold up to everyday use. And with a open diff, depending on traction, they might offer no braking at all at times.
