More Power From NHC 250 in M939 Series Trucks With Allison Transmissions

I'm running a 17 button now and checked pressure. Normal crusing I was seeing around 150-170psi at load under speed. Romping on it, I'd see the gauge twitch slightly passed 200psi. EGTs are still at 900F max. Boost is a max of 15psi.

That's the throttle screw, an AFC would be on a factory turbo'ed engine.

This thread is about the NHC-250, so none will have the AFC.

I plan on ordering one of these: http://www.surpluscenter.com/Air-Pneumatics/Pressure-Gauges/Pressure-Vacuum-Gauges/300-PSI-1-5-BM-LF-GAUGE-21-1700.axd And this hose...

More Power From NHC 250 in M939 Series Trucks With Allison Transmissions

Not yet. I've been putting off placing an order. I really need to replace all the hoses in the crane on the SEMTT, but I need to get out there with one other person and a tape measure to figure out exactly what all I need. Surplus center already sells hoses with NPT ends, that was what I...

More Power From NHC 250 in M939 Series Trucks With Allison Transmissions

I went for a drive but noted that it was defueling at about 1950rpm. I mean fall on your face defueling. Came back home and noticed a retainer/shim on the ground I must have dropped. While on the road and driving, I saw the same EGTs (perhaps about 10-15F higher, but the gauges resolution...

    I swapped in a #20 button. Stock was a #30!

I would say 20psi is max. But I have an automatic.

I'm thinking about checking with my local hyd shop to see if they have something and a 1/8" hose to check mine with.

I checked #20 is the coolest button and #7 is the hottest I have. I'll try the #20 first. If I stay under 1k on temp and 20psi I'll call it done. I've done the dual fuel line mod as well. No change of shims. I can already rev it to 2300 or higher.

More Power From NHC 250 in M939 Series Trucks With Allison Transmissions

Finally went for a test drive. I haven't touched the button yet. But I'm seeing 900F under throttle 5th gear, unloaded. Around 12psi of boost. I think #20 is the "highest" button I have. I'll probably try that next.

What turbo are you running? Pre turbo I assume?

Bumping this back up again. I have my turbo and intake installed on my "SEMTT". I'm going to start changing out the buttons after a test drive. For those of you who have already turbo'ed/button'ed a 250. What button did you end up running? What EGTs are you seeing? Also what EGT are you...

Glad to see you also saw the same results as I did. I'm going to copy your post over to the dual fuel line thread as well.

According to the testing guide by the Red River depot, a maximum rpm of 2400 should not be exceeded for testing purposes. The governer starts to defuel typically around 2000-2100rpm. They will typically free rev to 2350 though. As well as run that downhill.

No and the EGTs are controlled by the amount of fuel injected into the engine. The piston coolers do aid in cooling. But if one keeps the EGTs below 1200F everything should be safe. (I own two diesels that do not have piston squirters that have been turbo'ed)

We're getting off track, but there ARE cases where a blower should be on a diesel (Not just a Detroit)... 5.9 cummins. The supercharger allows for instant spooling from idle up. The turbo allows the flow. If that wasn't enough, Carl has moved from that setup to a supercharged/compound...
