New CCKW at the Ropkey Museum

By taking it off list I simply avoid the problem of the 'nice truck' guys. I already posted about half of what it wrong.... but without frame numbers or more shots I had to hold off on a lot of other things that were done by the French, Danes etc. I have a Danish CCKW TM that really shows a...

If you want to get the truck squared away, feel free to PM me off list. I can give you the specifics and contacts for parts.

New CCKW at the Ropkey Museum

YOu didn't even read the thread but come in with inane comments about a topic you have clearly shown you know little about (a 4+ year old pre-restoration photo is on page 4). I gave my obligatory 'nice truck'. I offered CONSTRUCTIVE advice on what is in need of correction to un-foerign-ize the...

New CCKW at the Ropkey Museum

That picture is 4+ years old. I have only had the truck a little over 5 years. Much progress has been made. First I had to find a spare tire carrier, then the proper wooden bed, rebuild the hydrovac (guess how many Series II hydrovac rebuild kits are left on the planet). I have ONE after 3...

New CCKW at the Ropkey Museum

If your skin is so thin that you cannot take constructive comments then that is not my fault. I said it looked in good condition, but there were problems with it. Heck, I have yet to read a post where someone else could explain what those issues are. As I said in the beginning, there are...

New CCKW at the Ropkey Museum

That looks like a home made opening. The rolled lip is very poor, and IIRC the original cover is not canvas. Can you post a frame SN? Have you found a cab tag? 1609 is the model number... but there *were* field kits to add the hatch in the field.

Thanks for the spell check. I hope you DL'd the Army Motors (sorry about the Feb 43 issue is out of page order.. working on it). I have 5 more issues to post once I get the process fixed. You'd be amazed on how much you can pick up by browsing through them. As for 'representing a web site'...

New CCKW at the Ropkey Museum

The problem is that this truck is in a condition that NO GI ever put it in. I've asked twice now if anyone knew the issues (NOT THE MARKINGS) and no one knows. Yet I could spot it within 10 seconds. I could probably tell more with a frame SN, but that's not been provided. I am all for...

New CCKW at the Ropkey Museum

Its not about the markings. There are some items that are on this truck that would not have been seen in US Army service. If all you see is a MG mount then your 'museum' is in name only. Its the bed, brush guard, fuel tank and wiper (that I can see) that are in question. A steel body with...

New CCKW at the Ropkey Museum

Don't forget the canvas water bucket. Its not 'original WWII' unless it has the water bucket on the pintal hitch. Whats kinda sad is that I bet you have no idea whats incorrect for this truck. Yet make lame comments. Knowledge is a dangerous thing... in your hands I fear it would be deadly...

New CCKW at the Ropkey Museum

Please take this as nothing more than free internet advice from a person you don't know: So what if you got it from another museum, if you are going to put the National Symbol on it, and claim it is an example of a WWII 2 1/2 Ton truck the please take the time to get it right. They are not...

New CCKW at the Ropkey Museum

Please tell me you are going to fix its errors before you display it. If you are gonna paint it in US Army livery, and say it was used in WWII, then please make it look like a truck that was in WWII.
