Well, we had our first public unveiling in Belleview today. Very gratified by the response from the attendees. Had a great time and picked up some nice accessories.
BTW, the 10-ton tractor pictured took "Best of Show" honors.
Thanx, but I have to keep reminding myself that this IS NOT a restoration, but simply an experiment. You know how it is...you get an idea in your head, and you can't rest till you figure out if it can actually be done. Haven't spent much thought on the front axle issue yet; it shouldn't have...
Thanx for the kudos. It has a 16' bed. I plan on removing the troop seats inside. They tend to smack the s**t out of you when you lower the sides. As for the mission of this vehicle, the possibilities are endless. I just wanted to see if it would work! Plus it will be real handy around the...
Haven't measured the wheelbase yet, but the overall length is 33 feet. It's not advisable to weld along the flange. I used the inner frame member from old tandem to reinforce the main truck frame. Unknown at this time, can't find a ratio tag on the rears. Took out the front driveshaft till I get it sorted out. The rear axles appear to be locking and 2-speed. I would really like to talk to someone who is familiar with the technical side of these units.
Me either. Still trying to figure out why they installed the lights like that. And it sure would be a lot "SIMPLER" if I could find a TM for that thing.
