    Moving my Transmission cooler

I have about the same distance from the bump stops to the control arms. Hopefully it does not bend anything. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Moving my Transmission cooler

Well, finally finished …. I wrapped the exhaust and hoses….made tie down points for the hoses as well.

    Moving my Transmission cooler

My truck bypassed the rear cooler (unloaded ) and never got hot. Now that it is plumbed in, still don’t have the fan hooked up in the new location. Just a reference point. I am sure weight is the deciding factor here. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Moving my Transmission cooler

Well, I checked the oil before leaving and it was way high, so a idled it until it dropped a little. I drove for about 30 minutes, lots of flat roads with a few steep hills. The hoses got nice and warm to the touch, so I know oil was flowing through them. Only leak was from the oil sample...

    Moving my Transmission cooler

Good point. I doubt I am a gallon over full. I was a bit high last I checked. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Moving my Transmission cooler

I did not drain the transmission. I only drained the rear hoses and the cooler. My current plan is to check the oil level. Start the truck for about 5 seconds. Check the level…. Add some oil until correct. Repeat until cold level is stable and correct. Then warm up the transmission, check...

    Moving my Transmission cooler

Ok, got my lines routed. Gonna fire up the truck this weekend. I have not added any transmission oil back yet, but I was a bit high right before the lines were drained. Any guesses on how much to add back? I am thinking of starting it up for a minute to fill the lines and cooler, then checking...

    Moving my Transmission cooler

I made up some silicone foam rubber bushings. Each bolt has three…. One one each end and one between the cooler and the mount. I wish I had some fender washers…. I may get some still, but the cooler can move some but can’t rattle. I used nylock nuts so the assembly is captured.

For what it’s worth, color was not an option…. That was all they had….. but I think it will look nice until it gets covered in dirt and/or oil.

    Moving my Transmission cooler

Well, finally got my hose in. The hose is extra large. I had to reduce the fittings at the ends to match the truck. This will create some resistance, but the hose being larger should reduce the resistance from the added length of hose. Either way, it should work.

That is a good point. I am surprised that the sample port was not taken from the front cooler. Right now I am only having luck finding -20 hoses with 2406-16-20 reducers on both ends. Seams like a lot to mess with. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Moving my Transmission cooler

I did a few sanity checks. The fittings appear to be -16 or 1” jic37 fittings with 1-1/8 hoses. One hose is 14’ with one straight and one 90degree end with my moved cooler One hose is 13’6” with one straight and one 45 degree end with my moved cooler. I also have one -4 that is 22’ of 3/8...

Wow…. Thanks. I might run the hose by the local shop to confirm fitting sizes. But that online source sounds great. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Moving my Transmission cooler

I spoke to the local hydraulic hose company. These hoses are expensive. I can get 1-1/8 DOT hoses with a braided cover or 1-1/4 hydraulic hoses (not DOT). The 1-1/4 ones are more money but larger. The both hoses are $30 per foot ish and the fittings for the smaller size were $80 for the...

    Moving my Transmission cooler

I opened the mount holes a little to make sure the cooler could “float a little. I know the original had rigid connections and the holes were tight on two holes and 4 were slotted (tight on the sides though). I am wondering if I should put some rubber washers on both ends of the bolts to...

    Moving my Transmission cooler

Painted the area black. Hopefully tonight I can measure hose lengths. To add to the questions above…. a friend of mine asked if I could simply split the crimp ferrules off of the old hoses and reuse the fittings with new crimp ferrules. I am guessing it would be hard to match, but as...

    Moving my Transmission cooler

Ok, one more quick question. if you look at the line heading along the right to-what I am assuming is a thermostat valve. The hose comes up a bit high. It looks like the fitting there is just another straight o-ring boss with a jam nut. Should I at all be concerned with turning that down with...

    Moving my Transmission cooler

Made more progress. I trimmed the angle in place with a cut off wheel. Not too bad for freehanding it. I wish it looked better, but no one will see it and it is functional, so I am moving on. You can see that I can now get a wrench on the backside now. primed the bare metal, will...
