Posted up the trip report a few weeks ago, didn't quite go as planned but that's life. http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?138090-From-one-border-to-the-other-in-a-deuce-and-m105
Getting settled in at Salt Lake City, Utah.
Will do. The trailer is loaded up with most of my stuff. Will have the cover on the deuce next week and should be ready soon after that. Planning to stay at camp sites most of the trip.
Oh the layoff is not unexpected. Back in late January they let go of most the employees, kept a handful of us around to pack up the drilling rigs and get them ready to sell. Big question is if we are getting a severance package haha.
Great to hear! Where I'm at right now is great for work, but its 4 hours driving at 75mph from anything to do. As far as work goes I'm a diesel and hydraulic field mechanic, primarily large generators and oilfield equipment.
Haha college town, that could be trouble! I'm 27, but I've had the...
Thanks. Looking for a place with things to do outside of work, especially with the outdoors (hiking, offroading, shooting, etc). ****, maybe even a woman that can put up with my crazy self hahahaha.
Thanks.
Picking up the trailer this weekend and have some parts for the camper on the way as well.
Exact moving date is not set in stone yet, our official 'laid off' date is still up in the air.
Haha pretty much all but the east coast.
Looks like I'll have an M105 in tow. Leaving most of my furniture behind in the house (renting it out), but still have too much stuff to throw into the shelter and still be able to sleep there without a trailer.
A friend of mine up there is letting me...
Will do Valence. Sounds like you're near Hill AFB, that's officially where I was stationed from 2009-2012 (spent most of that time at Dugway and the demolition ranges over there).
Carnac I cheated, there are MRAP seats in my deuce. 84 decibels in the cab at 55mph (compared to 99 at 50mph stock). Plus I'm planning to take 1-2 weeks on the drive.
I'm used to driving for long hours, just not in a rush on this trip.
Thank you, that will make getting the shelter off much easier.
Rhurey what does 'pink year' mean? Not gonna lie, that just went right over my head haha.
I've been to Vancouver BC Canada before, very pretty area. Also spent 3 years stationed in Utah. Never lived north of Utah.
I like the outdoors a lot, especially in the mountains.
Thanks. Planning to do some sight seeing along the way, take 1-2 weeks for the drive. Truck is on the 395's and muffled which makes it much more pleasant to drive at 55.
By the way, does anyone have a wrecker in that area that could help with unloading the shelter? I might have the bed roller...
No return trip dawico, loading everything on this drive that's not staying with the house (renting it out for some extra money).
Haha yes Carnac big change. Planning on state highways where I can through New Mexico, Utah, Idaho.
