Considering a M927 or M928 to live in...

Oh you don't wanna play in the mud with the heavier 5 ton trucks. I was sitting still when the truck sank (granted had the m923a2 on the hook, he was buried over the headlights in the lake). The CAT is stuck too.

The funny thing about that forum is that they are not really big fans of military surplus trucks. They love the small trailers, but not really fans of the trucks. Considering the size of these trucks and building them as a camper, there is plenty of room for a toilet/shower. And for long term...

Shame you're not on this side of the country.

I beam for the skids would work, just needs to be the right thickness. Pic gives an idea of height when there is a skid platform underneath for a removable camper. And one way to remove/install a camper (a bed winch with a tail roller at the end of the bed).

Problem with the cargo cover is the height, can't stand up straight. Fine for short periods but to live in would suck. Could work if you set it up where you were always sitting while in the camper. The canvas/vinyl will get torn up. Have to stretch the wheelbase and frame for the m146 secured...

As stated earlier. The other truck/trailer shelters and shipping containers are too wide to fit between the bed sides. You must lower/remove the bed sides.

Could build it as a pellet stove instead of just a wood burner. That way it will keep going. Whether you build it as a wood or pellet burner they are cheap, simple, effective. Can be built how you want. All the wood burners I've used will go out overnight but the embers keep putting off...

Unless you get an s280 type box, nothing pre-made will fit inside the upright bedsides.

A 20ft shipping container does not fit inside the bed, the sides need to be dropped (exact same width). A 20ft container will run about 4k, a m146 probably about 2k. If I were in your position I would go with either a m146 trailer or a m934/m820. Both of them have better door setups, windows...

Understandable. What would you want to build the box out of and what is your budget range? Considering the length of the truck you could get a m146 trailer and modify it to sit on the bed, or a 20ft shipping container.

Why not start with a m934 or m820?
