    The DOT approved hose is usually either black or green. Sometimes it is yellow or blue but never clear. Here is a picture which shows how the line is made up.     That's one reason I just replaced all the hoses with 3/8" Poly hose (DOT air line ) . A whole lot cheaper and parts everywhere.
