    I would love to pick-up a Isuzus diesel truck, but around here it is well known how long the engines last and the great mileage they get. So they command a high price ! I just refuse to pay $4000.00 to $5000.00 for a 30 to 35 year old truck !

    When the frame goes ( breaks, cracks, falls off) I usually call it "quites" on the vehicle and scrap it out. I actually had a Ford LTD Marquee that the rear frame fell off while driving it ! The whole rear-end (trunk and bumper) just kinda of fell down.

    Replacing the fuel strainer is a smart idea. Most people forget all about that little filter. With the garbage that is in our fuels these days that filter gets quite the workout.

    Didn't mean to ruffle your feathers. I too am a licensed "ASE" certified Master Mechanic. Have been for 38 years now. All you had to say was legal reasons and I would understand. But since they did not come on all models of 1 ton trucks you could "legally" remove it.

    I have owned 2 M1008 vehicles and both had bad fuel tanks. I replaced them all with polyethylene tanks.

    Hey ! I might be decrepit but I'm in better shape then that truck :shock: !!! If it was mine I would just put a bullet in it and put it out of it's misery !!!
