Before i decided on the 005 i got a quote on a generac 24kw propane generator. The generator was about the same cost as the 005, the propane tank was 3k, running a propane line to the generator was 1500, the electrician was 2500 and anytime i have an issue i have to call someone out. If i...
Nice, i found a nice 005 I am stoked to be getting. The single phase is a huge plus. I have also read the parts for the 005 are much cheaper than the 805.
Thanks for everyones help on this.
Wow really great feedback!
I like your view of keep it simple, it very much fits me.
for now I don’t plan to use an automatic transfer switch, it adds complexity and I want to get to know the generator first. For the first year or two my plan will be to use a safety double throw switch to...
Any chance you can send me the links? I searched all the sc Craigslist sites and I see 002,003 and 004s but could not find the 5s using mep* or 30kw
thanks for the help!
Fuel is the easier part, or at least easier than finding the generator. I will use a 5-600 gallon storage tank connected to the aux pump on the generator. I get that i will need to add additives to the fuel every 6 months and possibly have it polished or even just swap the house to generator to...
natural gas is not an option, I live in the country... I could have a large propane tank installed but I’d honestly prefer diesel if I can find a 005 to buy.
I have a few questions if you don’t mind?
how do you connect you 004 to your house? I was thinking of a double throw safety switch. It’s a manual transfer but low cost setup. Also how do you know when utility has been restored other than testing or seeing a neighbor? I can’t see neighbors...
Right this second my usage is 4.531 KW (my smart meeter reports real time usage). At the moment i have lights and fans on in 6 rooms, a tv, 4 computers, security system - including 7 cameras, fridge and 2 freezers plus the fish tanks. I suspect about half that usage is the fish tanks to be...
Thanks for all the replies so fast! I will try to answer everyones questions or comments
for all seasons but winter - I can run the AC/Water heater, well, septic, lights, computers for a littler under 10kw, I would like a little more room to be able to also run the stove/oven/microwave too...
I have read a ton of the threads on here and wanted to see if anyone would give me a bit of advice before i pull the trigger and buy a new to me generator.
I live in an all electric house in Texas. With just lights, TV and computers on I pull about 5KW average. When the AC is on i pull 10KW and...
