M939 CTIS Reprogram, Anybody Done It?

Yeah, get on it alternator boy. I need to get on the sending the enable code. I haven't even driven the truck for two months. Work is killing me. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

M939 CTIS Reprogram, Anybody Done It?

Perfect, I have some coding to do, Thank you!

M939 CTIS Reprogram, Anybody Done It?

Is there any special J1587 command to initiate it? MID or PID? I guess I could sniff it out if I had the cable connection and program that 74M does. Any docs on those things?

M939 CTIS Reprogram, Anybody Done It?

I am trying to create a monitoring program, so no combox. Any way to recreate the DDT request via program? That's the key to my project.

M939 CTIS Reprogram, Anybody Done It?

I will retry the j1708 pins when I grab my 422 ECU, but I have been down this road. 74m is using a combox. I am just hitting it with an Rs485 connection and no terminators, I have no com box. Explain the "synced" part. If it send something, so can I.

M939 CTIS Reprogram, Anybody Done It?

Nothing new in that manual unfortunately. 422 testing. Tried with termination with a prebuilt CAN Arduino, an Rs485 with code from Arduino, and a scope (no terminator) and tried both J1708 and J1939. I will try one last termination with 120ohm and a scope, but the bus is QUIET, all in...

M939 CTIS Reprogram, Anybody Done It?

Hmm, Im not sure now. I always thought no, but I guess I should draw it out. Got a long plane ride to think it over. I think 74M was going to try that too, hey, where did he go with is one. :-)

M939 CTIS Reprogram, Anybody Done It?

Yup, my CAN board and the RS485 both have those resistors to properly terminate the bus.

M939 CTIS Reprogram, Anybody Done It?

Both good basic websites on CAN communication and specs. https://barrgroup.com/Embedded-Systems/How-To/Introduction-SAE-J1939 https://www.kvaser.com/about-can/higher-layer-protocols/j1939-introduction/ They reference a broadcast network. I'll check to see if I'm listening on the CAN shield...

M939 CTIS Reprogram, Anybody Done It?

Well normal CAN should speak up without being asked, but I guess it's possible. No Dana documentation has ever said how it communicates on either protocol, or even if it will, it's just a hunch based off the pin outs. I'll keep digging. And it might be call Dana to see if someone way back...

M939 CTIS Reprogram, Anybody Done It?

Cool, thanks. SO it looks like its CAN, but nothing is being transmitted. I fear that the flash is not supporting CAN. Unless we can figure out anything else, this might be a bust...

M939 CTIS Reprogram, Anybody Done It?

Well, the DANA does nothing out of the J1708, but has a nice waveform out of the J1939 ports. I have a CAN shield, but doesn't seem to be reading it. Sigh. J1939 is 2.45V on the multimeter I found the following on a J1939 site: Summary: In the dominant state:A typical CAN_H is about 3.5V...

M939 CTIS Reprogram, Anybody Done It?

Probe is 100% on the test point. Nice and square waves, all trimmed up with the probe adjust. I think there isn't anything on the Eaton's. Headed to go grab the DANA from the garage (and try the Arduino code with just a pulled LOW). It's 70 degrees out here in Colorado. Need the make the...

M939 CTIS Reprogram, Anybody Done It?

I can't get that waveform back, and that doesn't look like data to me. I am testing on an old Eaton, as that's all I have back at the house. I'll try to grab the DANA today / tomorrow, before I go on work travel. For what its worth, I get with a multimeter 100mV out of pin N - J1708B 1mv...

M939 CTIS Reprogram, Anybody Done It?

Well, bench test. And a waveform. I got to test it for only a bit and had to put it down for dinner. More tomorrow. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

M939 CTIS Reprogram, Anybody Done It?

Yeah, good old YouTube, I've poured through a bunch of them and have the actual manual, so have read and digested them all, and played with the scope a couple of times as well. My triggers are the only confusing part so far (too many options there), but does have Auto. I left my harness up by...

M939 CTIS Reprogram, Anybody Done It?

Yeah, I was considering that lately, it would at least give me a bunch of error codes I could immediately deal with. I have the pin outs, so not a bad idea. I was hoping this would be easier and quicker, and with no idea the signal, I should have started with a scope. I really thought I would...

M939 CTIS Reprogram, Anybody Done It?

Hulk, yes the Arduino has 2 serials. Serial is the USB, and Serial1 is the TX and RX on the board. So when we enable serial, I can see the output across a terminal like screen right from the USB that is powering the Arduino. The default for both serials is 8N1, so all good there. Its on an...

M939 CTIS Reprogram, Anybody Done It?

Well, I tested, and I think I have the wrong code. I think the instructional is dead wrong. I am only trying to receive, so I really don't need to transmit EVER. Here is the code. I think this code (which is entitled The SAE J1708/J1587 Monitoring Sketch) is backwards. I believe that using...
