Drash/GET Perkins 20KW no fuel problem

I used actual Perkins oil and fuel, but they were NOS, a bit old. I tend to like Napa, for some reason Fram always felt cheaper quality, but that could be a perception. There are lots of back and forth on this on many other forums. Proof that it's inferior, and even Fram admitting that they...

Drash/GET Perkins 20KW no fuel problem

Mine isn't a knob turn and it's on, it does need me to hold on to it cranking for about 5 seconds longer than I think it should. I assume you are also warming the glow plugs each time right? Also check the fuel bulb to see if it's holding the full pressure. If you get a soft squeeze out of it...

Drash/GET Perkins 20KW no fuel problem

From my previous Internet fu research, NU22B is a good replacement for R22, and claims it is compatible with any oil in compressor (mineral or Polyolester (POE)), where using R407C recommends adding POE on swaps. The old oils and R407C aren't really that compatible, hence the need for the POE...

Drash/GET Perkins 20KW no fuel problem

Shawn, we can help you refill it. I need to pay it forward from when the guys on here helped me. Super easy, unless it's got a leak. (no offense to the certified HVAC guys) You can probably rent / borrow the gear if you need to, and the gas is still cheap on the Internet. If you go for a...

Drash/GET Perkins 20KW no fuel problem

Nice R407C - me too. I just checked pricing, it's going up. I think people have figured out that it's a good replacement for R22 as well. I got mine for $160, I believe Will scored $140. But anyway you cut it, gas is the most expensive part. Check with some local guys to see if they have...

Drash/GET Perkins 20KW no fuel problem

Check your data plate. R22 is the older gas, and getting expensive. There are conversions, but I'm only Internet smart on it. And yes they can recharge, but they should vacuum it, it will assure you that there isn't a leak. That much R22 will put a hole in your wallet if you had to do it...

I did see that that voltage is way off. Dial that down.

Drash/GET Perkins 20KW no fuel problem

My coils are COMPLETELY different. They are solid metal disks, not the wires. Mine runs at 180. Glad to see it up and running.

Drash/GET Perkins 20KW no fuel problem

Vacuum pump $50-120 Gauges $40-120 R407C (MAKE SURE ITS THAT REFRIGERANT, other stuff is more expensive.) - $160 Scale - $80-300 I did all of mine, with help, for the low marks above. Or pay someone who has the skills - I bet they'd charge at least $500.

Drash/GET Perkins 20KW no fuel problem

Have you tried the basics? Enough fuel? - 10 gallons Clean fuel - did you drain it? Does it have water in it? Tried to prime it? - Use the bulb. Fuel filter and inline clean? - usually this is after you get some life from it. Does it get electricity to the panel? Do the glow plugs work...

Drash/GET Perkins 20KW no fuel problem

Looked sharp. Mine was a very recent rebuild MKT99, and I scored an extra griddle from a member. They are still out there, most out east. All green (or in my case, tan) iron needs accessories.

Drash/GET Perkins 20KW no fuel problem

Yeah, I was lucky to get the ducts with mine. I can use the AC with my Base-X tent (it has the duct inputs in the tent), use it to cool my garage, and also we have an MKT, which gets pretty hot when cooking. So even though not efficient under an open tent, it's like having AC in a convertible...

Drash/GET Perkins 20KW no fuel problem

I'm sure you meant diesel. And Will recommends 10 gallons, as 5 is barely enough to get it going. And make sure it's drained all the way first. I put in 5 gallons, then drained as I hadn't and really wish I would have as instructed. When I did, it came out clean, but it might have had water...

Drash/GET Perkins 20KW no fuel problem

I found the auction, Everything looks pretty good, nothing that I can see missing, barring the oil filter. 1500 hrs is nice and low too. Your AC is a bit different than mine, and you've got some undercoating or a recent paint job under the trailer. From the picts it looks nice. Those 60A 208...

Next time I am up at the shop, I will do a walkthrough start and AC start, so you can see and hear it video.

Drash/GET Perkins 20KW no fuel problem

I actually got the original Perkins off EBay, but as noted, Napa has the compatible ones too. I got them from the TM. Oil, fuel and the airs. Still cheap enough. Do not forget to clean the inline filter.

Drash/GET Perkins 20KW no fuel problem

Hey Shawn, those TM's that Will uploaded are great, do know that things vary a bit from the manual (meaning manufacturers, and a couple of small things like an "extra" oil fill near the shroud on mine, some have them some don't). As usual, read the TM's, they are an easy read, but I worked my...

Exactly as post #5. Well, besides serial.

Drash/GET Perkins 20KW no fuel problem

Did anyone find any of these for this "Hanco", which is really the generator? I am at a loss on ANY TM. EDIT, except for the trailer chassis underneath it.
