What have you done to your CUCV today/lately? - Part 1

Thanks Marcus, It actually went pretty well. I used my Ryobi cordless drill, low n slow with plenty of cutting oil. Threaded the holes and installed the Heli-coils. The bolts threaded in nice and tight, and before I knew it, I was done. No blood loss or contusions were experienced during the...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately? - Part 1

Successfully Heli-coiled the starter bolt holes on the shadetree 09. One of the POs tried to use 3/8 threaded rod as starter bolts and buggered the threads so bad I had to drill out the holes and start over.

No! You need the shackle to move as the springs compress and return to a neutral position. It also provides the suspension some flex when going over uneven surfaces. You probably won't be able to bolt it up that way anyway. If your springs are tired, new ones are really not that expensive, and...

I changed the engine oil today, and looked into a locking hub issue I had after last weekends storm. I thought I lost a hub after I helped a friend plow some item 4 roads. I finally installed a Kats 600w block heater. A few good wacks on the freeze out plug with a 10in long punch, and it was out. I did manage to punch the plug into the water jacket, but had no problem removing it with a needle nose pliers and channel locks. I lucked out. I had to run 100ft of 12ga...

Barneyrubble, It's fuel injector cleaner. It can be added to the engine oil before doing a change. It has been known to free up sticky lifters and loosen up sludgy buildup. Some don't like it as it contains alcohol. When added to a full fuel tank, there should be no issue. Power Service cetane...

Thanks for the kind words Jay, I live in the highest taxed county in the country, where everything is a shakedown to some degree You can't even put up a metal shed in your back yard without having to file and pay a fee for some kind of permit. The $4.19 a gallon I pay is relitively cheap for...
