Did you leave it running at all your stops? Also, the fact that it needs that 5 minute startup/cool down period makes it a bit of a pain to take around places.
ha, they might have one **** of a time trying to maneuver it around a parking lot. Still anyone with limited knowledge of these trucks would know they have a push button start, so regardless if it's running or not it's just as easily taken. When does it become too long of an idle, an hour...
So if i take a trip to the grocery store in the deuce I shouldn't leave it running while i go inside? I had a diesel mechanic who told me these multifuel engines were meant to run, not to be driven around like an suv, start, stop, start, stop. Is he right?
****, that's not a bad idea, but would it work? Is it safe to test both of these methods? Attempting to choke the engine with the mushroom cap at idle and then testing the c02 on the fording hole.
Paranoia is setting in, it seems on a 42 year old deuce anything could happen unexpectedly. Crossing my fingers, I hope I dont have nightmares about it tonight!
interesting/informative/important thread
In other words, I don't need to worry about my deuce going ape**** down the road the next time i drive it? Should I eventually invest in a positive air shutoff valve and is there anyway to know if my turbo or ip is about to take a dump?
Since I'm new (and frankly scared ****less) to this whole runaway business i better get this straight. Now, the only thing that will cause a runaway is when you lose a seal in the turbo? How does a turbo lose a seal, overheating? And to counteract this issue, you can either put something over...
How high are the chances of something like this happening? Could you just be driving down the road and then, "oh look my deuce is at full throttle who is it going to kill first?" It almost makes me not want to drive my deuce anymore.
