1028 fuel line replacement

Hello all,
Getting ready to replace fuel lines on my son's 1985 1028, and have a few questions.
Does diesel fuel require a special fuel line? Is brake line the same as fuel line, and are they interchangeable? Is the supply line 3/8" and the return line 1/4"?
Is there a better alternative to steel lines?
Many thanks for informed answers.

The metal line that they use for the FUEL line is the same material as the brake lines. This is the material that is commonly available at any auto parts store. Some bends easier then others. May I recommend that you purchase an inexpensive tubing bender. I bought on at Home depot years ago. Remove the old lines and just copy them. It is a fairly easy task. It does not have to be perfect. Just make sure it is secured back in place and does not rub anywhere. Reuse the metal frame clamps or replace them but do clamp the lines back into place on the frame. I hope that helps. It is a long dirty job. Replace all the rubber lines and clamps while you are at it. Good Luck. Keep up the music.

Yes you can. That is the same thing that is used for the brake line. Good Luck. If I lived closer I would come over with my crew and help you out. Maybe drink a few long necks. I spent some time down your way in the 70's at the Fort.

If you have issues getting the lines bent back at the rear of the cab send me a PM. I have them lines in my warehouse that I removed from trucks years ago. I save and inventory just about everything. I also have the frame clamps if you need some. They are the same on a civy truck also. I am ready to do some more trading.
