It would be a MEP-004A, 15 KW, 60Hz. $400 is a VERY fair price for one! Retail is around $4000 for the same thing. As long as it works, you're doing well!

If it's the MEP-113a, that's the 400 Hz model. Unless you're going to run some air crafts or a boatload of incandescent lighting, or purely resistive loads, I wouldn't give $40 for it.

If it's 400hz, you have only a few options-
First, is to snag the whole thing, make it function, and then swap out the generator head with a 60hz unit...

or second (as others noted) use it to drive incandescent lamps and resistive loads.

One LAST possibility, is using it to push power into a fairly svelte inverter (like an industrial Variable Frequency Drive, but set to fixed-freq)...
