Just purchased a set of 7 1600s XZL for the 5 ton. The date code on most tires is 2005.
What is every ones thoughts on the 'reliability' of these tires (@55mph)? I currently mounted one on the front (50psi).
Also what about low pressure off road and sidewall flex? Will the old rubber crack or are these tires tough and I'm overreacting?

I have these on my Bobbed deuce but they are all 2009.

my opinions , possibly worth what they cost you -

1) age is but one variable among many. 15 years in an OKC warehouse is preferable to 2 years stored outside at Davis Monthan getting sun blasted.

2) 16.00's are made for the hemtt, which is far more demanding than a 5ton.

How far does an aged 16.00 have to deteriorate before it's equal in load capacity to a new 14.00?

In the absence of any warning signs, run them and dint worry about it. ....

Ditto to what 98G said. Ask user Simpson on here. He put 60,000 miles on my set of 2002 XZLs rolling 70 mph at over 65,000 lbs until he simply wore them out.
