Be verrrry careful and read the fine print.

I just saw a bunch of GL auctions where they say you will be charged a
$25.00 handling fee I think it said AND the Buyers Premium was 16%
up 6%, AND I am sure you will pay tax as well.

SO if you win an item for
$100.00 you pay $25 so now your at $125.00 now add 10% now
your at $137.50 now add lets say 8% tax and you are at $148.50
for that $100 dollar bid. THAT IS MONSTEROU$ WOW!

Let's work it normal;

$100.00 bid x 10%=$110.00 x 8% = $118.80 !

Almost a $30.00 difference on just one-hundred-bux :!:

A sign of things to come to cover the loss of truck sales? Time will tell.

Better start reading ALL the fine print.

I will pass on any auction that includes a 16% premium, plus a $25.00 handling fee. Their loss of truck sales is not my fault, so look somewhere else for your GL monies. It figures, everytime I find something good to add to the hobby; the govnt changes the rules to where it is impossible to even do!

Hopefully it is just a non DOD auction and a one time deal but
none the less, be aware, I have never seen such things EXCEPT
for what went on a few days ago at the Littlefield auction and
all there add on fees. Hmmmmm.

This should be posted in the GL forums.

Yup the non dod lots at have the higher percentage. I only saw the extra fee thing at one site. I bought some stuff at a local company GL was liquidating they actually had several GL employees on site handling the pickups. I can see charging more when you have to send out people to manage something.

Just figure it in your maximum bid ,not a big deal . They been doing it here in michigan since they started non DOD auctions a couple years ago . Dow is one of there regulars and getting on their property for pick-up makes any goverment site seem like going to a flea market to get in .

Our auctions have 17% buyers premium less a 5% cash or check discount (12%) and then add NC sales tax at 6.75%. I have seen others that had higher buyers premiums than that around here. We had around 210 folks sign up for bidders numbers this weekend, meaning 400-500 attended.
Here your $100 item works out like this...

Credit ................Cash
Item $100 ..........$100
Premium $ 17 .....$ 12
Tax $7.90 ...........$7.56
Total $124.90 ......$119.56

So other than the $25 handling fee it doesn't look far fetched.
