1947 Ward Le France M1 or M1A1 Heavy Wrecker

This big boy needs a home. Never seen one of these. It's on craigslist for sale in Pittsburgh. (not my listing, just came across it late night) Looks pretty good for being 70 years old, aside from the plywood floorboards.

Nice find, I found it and sent myself the link.
I figured I would get a warning for linking the truck sale. So if anyone wants the link, send me a PM or if mods ok-it, I will post it.

I think that is a M1 not a M1A1 and I think it's a '41 model. Incredible find!!
Really? It is amazing how well its survived, she needs a proper restoration and to retire in a covered barn.

This would make a great project for someone. It's a Ward LaFrance 1000 M1 wrecker. The curved boom and military gauges in the dash make it a Series 4, which were only built in 1943. A friend has talked to the owner and the price is 20K. I wonder if he is including a free restoration ??

For $20,000 he should throw in Ward Cleaver from Leave it to Beaver, as Ward made much less back in the day.....

A delusional man and his truck will not be soon parted.:gimp:
