I cannot answer your question as I replaced the tank with the X version since my tank was old and decrepit and had small leaks.

But adding the protection plate that goes between the new X tank and the rear output driveshaft everything was super tight. I had to adjust the tank/plate a few times before things no longer rubbed. Not sure it would be possible to get that plate in there with the old tank. But without that plate, if the driveshaft rubbed it would only be a few seconds before you would have a very bad day.

You can try it and see, but it is a lot of labor (PITA) to R&R the tank with the tranny in place. It is super easy to remove with the tranny out..

Thanks. I have collected all of the necessary stuffs, tranny, US-Shift-4, shifter, shafts, cross member, including the X tank. Thinking about swapping it myself. However, not too keen on dealing w/ swapping the tank, plus I am pretty busy. So I may just have the pro do it.

Cheers,
-k
