4WD Light Sending Unit

The light on the dash that shows your in 4WD isn't working. I pulled the plug off the sending unit on top of the transfer case and used a jumper wire between the 2 terminals. The light came on. I'm "assuming" it's a bad sending unit. If the transfer case were low on oil would that keep the sender from working?...The 34P shows part number 15594176. NAPA doesn't show that but shows a FWD37. Is that a good cross?

Thanks for the link!...First a question about searches. When I do a search I usually enter 2 or more words. The results reflect any post that contains even one of the words. Is there any way to do a search where the results contain all of the words?... I pulled the switch and pushed the plunger with my finger, light didn't come on, bad switch. My NAPA has a switch with the ball at the end, not the thin plunger. Looks like it will work? How do I tell which transfer case I have, for future reference?

Read the round data tag on the rear of the T-case for model number.

You should have noticed it when you checked your oil.

Or, the 208 is aluminum, the 205 is cast iron.

The shift pattern is different on the 205 and 208. . 205 has shift indicator on shifter knob and 208 has shift indicator at base near floor.

Mine is a 205 and the switch works only above 3000'...found that out on my Mt. Washington trip.

Good luck finding one, I've had no luck on mine.

I haven't been under the vehicle but have the shift pattern on the knob, so it looks like a 205. No one has a source for the switch other than the $150 one referenced above?

The newer, weather tech terminal switch is only 122. That is what I got. With a new pig tail. QU30048

Here is some data from my research:

GM part number is: 15594176

Part number from MOPAR is 4210979

The Mopar part number is not easy to find either.

Thought I'd report that I bought one of the sending units with the ball on the end. This seems to be the part number that all the parts houses computers call for. It doesn't work. It won't even screw in, the end is too big. Now to see if I can return it.

4WD Light Sending Unit-Another Part Number

Found another part number for the sending unit/switch for the 4wd dash light. It's AC Delco 14024304. It has 2 spade terminals but fits and works fine.
