6 inch lift

I have looked all over this site and on the internet and I still can't find if I need to do anything, to the drivetrain, if I where to get a 6 inch lift. I know I would have to get brake lines, but would I have to get some thing for the driveshafts or anything like that?

You have to do some sort of steering mod, probably crossover would be best. Also you will need to fix your driveline angle somehow, mine is accomplished by a drop transfer case but my lift is only 4 inches.

Yeah I knew about the steering but I didn't know anything else. GT1009 you are not to far from me. Do you ever go into Burlington?

I don't really head into burlington ever but I don't think it's too far from my house. My house is pretty close to the boundary for burlington schools.

Ha ya i'm the one in the lifted m1009 with the American flags in the window, not too many of those in St.Charles, just whatever Ranchopper sells off silver glen rd.

A 6" lift on a chevy always requires driveshafts to be extended. It will require longer brake lines as you said and steering can be corrected by a longer pitman arm. With some kits that is included and in most cases if you buy a full spring kit the driveshaft angle will be corrected with shims already on the new springs. The front sway bar will need spacers put in to lower it down, those are availible to buy or you can fab some yourself. There are also some kits out there to lower the crossmember some to help with driveshaft angel if needed. A 4" lift doesn't always require driveshaft mods and the steering arm doesn't have to be changed but should. It will limit turning in one direction. The factory spacers on the top and bottom of the frame are relocated between the frame and crossmember to make up some driveshaft angle with a 4" lift also.

I have a six inch lift on one truck, I thought I answered what you asked.

longer drive shafts, dropped pitman arm or cross over steering, possibley look at a SYE * slip yoke eliminator* kit, longer brake lines are a must. axle shims to correct drive line angle, drop your transfer case a bit.

off road design AKA ORD will put togetehr a lift of any hight for you and they specialize in early model chevys and knwo the trucks quite well. hope it helps

i have a tuff country 4 hd kit. love the ride and flex had the cut the fenders that was it.
