803A cold start test

803A cold start test 18F

first cold weather since picking up the 803a did a 18F cold start with no glow plugs! fired right up perfectly! I hope the blue smoke is normal?

My 803 will start right up down to 20F and lower with out glow plugs. My 003A won't start lower than round 50F without glow plugs.

Blue smoke is engine lube oil burning off as the rings heat up and seat better against the cylinder walls.

when warmed up no smoke at light loads and heavy blue when loaded, zero oil usage as well. 1200 hours- that translates to about 60k miles if it were in a car.

Sounds like a compression test to check rings or valves.
