803a Flywheel Bolts

I figured I would post this because there isn't much info on the forums about it. I have a 803 that the motor ran a tiny bit and spun over by hand but something let loose. I figured it could only be one of a few things and I could hear bolts rattling in the gen head. I pulled it apart tonight and found all of the flywheel bolts sheared off clean. No idea yet why it did it. The next step will be to get the broken bolts out, I'm thinking I might weld some nuts to them and see if they will back out. Always something!

I have seen this before. Usually due to the bolts being loose. The crank flange is a relatively small diameter which gives the flywheel a lot of leverage to shear the bolts. As for the threaded parts in the crank, I think you will find they come out fairly easily. Have you tried a punch to see if they move?
