A question about Deuce Transmissions

I have a question about the M35 transmissions. I have a 1961 REO 2 1/2 ton Shop truck, which I may be using for parts. Will the transmission off the REO work on a 1971 M35A2? I am pretty sure the REO is a gas engine so I am not sure if they are compatible. If anyone can tell me one way or another I would appreciate it.

It will fit and work but if it's from a gasser, it will have a direct 5th gear (no overdrive). Also has a different shift pattern. For reference, the direct drive is 3052 and the overdrive is a 3053A.
