I've been considering air assist steering but cant afford to buy new, so how available are they and what should I expect to pay for a used one?

I lucked out and bought a used setup for $250.00 - this was a great price even though I had to replace the O-Ring and boot cover. This is the way to go unless you are a fabricator of sorts because the entire system can be bolted into your truck without special tools or extensive mechanical knowledge. One of the members named Arthur Bloom sells these kits and if you check out previous posts regarding the Air O Matic you can get in touch with him to get a price quote, etc. The phone number to contact him is 631 749-1510

I bought new from Arthur Bloom, M35products.com.
If you are running 9.00 or 11.00 tires it is the thing to have. As close to power steering as you could get. I am running 395's, 46" tires. The air assist works good. I would say 75% maybe more better that stock armstrong steering. I think true power steering would be better but there is no bolt on application.
The air assist kit Bloom sales are a bolt on kit and are simple to install. He is also very helpful if you have any questions.

I got mine for $1400 but it came with a running hard top winch truck . :D Sorry, I couldnt resist, I think I am more stoked about the air assist my truck came with. I sold the used set up I had purchased from Sermis after I sold my last truck, It had different bracketry from another truck application but fabbing up the correct brackets would not be too hard. Try a big truck junk yard, alot of old busses and trucks used thie air assist steering. A little bit of elbow grease and you can make it work on the duece for cheap.
