air compressor leaking oil

I am getting kind of a lot of oil coming out of my air compressor. It is wet along with the spin on filters to dripping off of the pto shaft for the winch. I have some gasket material with sticky backing to redo the gaskets. My question is are the bolts torque sensitive?, if so does someone have the spec. for torque?

All fasteners are torque sensitive - that said, an old time mechanic told me, when I was a Kid, that "torque wrenches are for amateurs". What he was getting at was that if the fasteners were dirty, new, dry, rusty.... it all makes a difference in what you end up with.
Just look up the torque rating for the particular size, grade and thread type of the fastener that you are using, and you'll be fine.

If / when you change the gasket one thing to be careful of is there is a oil passage for the compressor in the area that is circled in red. Make sure that this is not blocked by the gasket or any type of sealant.

Think I would find a gasket or make one and not use any sealer that could clog. Something like high tack spray or a very light coating of something that just helps seal not make a seal.

I totally agree. I tend to stick with old time tried and true methods. I will use a very, very thin coat of #2 permatex on paper / fiber gaskets pretty much just to hold them in place and help seal any imperfections in the sealing surface. Has done me well for 35+ years.

I normally use the black colored gasket with the peel off backing so it has a "sticky side." It works very well.
