Little gems are right! Based on the five lug rear wheels they must be kind of small for modern scrapers comparison. perfect size for around the farm/ranch. did they leave any lonely brothers or sisters around? nice dozer blade on the cab unit. 40's or fifties vintage?

Both units we designed to be transported either by glider or C 47 they were used by airborne aviation engineers to construct forward air fields. In conjunction with the Clark airborne Dozer is and the Case SI Airborne tractor. The Letorneau Scraper only weighs 4300lbs. It could be broken down into 3 pieces. There were only a little over 600 of these units built. The towed scraper weighs 2400lbs. It was loaded into the C47 in one piece. The towed scraper was built in 1943.

Remarkable pieces of (actual) history. They will be both great looking and useful when restored to former spec. A very nice acquisition, well done.....A 'display' on their own in fact when not in use.

Indeed, some hard working little gems they are!

As I recall, their motive power could be anything from a tracked vehicle, a heavy truck, or anything other motorized pulling unit. In a pinch, locally "borrowed" work animals could also be hitched - horses, mules, oxen, elephant - depending on availability. If none of the aforementioned could be employed a small squad of Marines could also be hitched in a pinch. Hence, their relatively low capacity and lighter weight made them ideal for forward deployment.

Clark Dozer Drivers View

Hi

Thought you might enjoy this video of a Clark Dozer at last year's Weare Rally in New Hampshire.

The 2018 Weare Rally runs Thursday July 26 through Saturday July 28th. More fun than a MV full of monkeys.

Cheers Phil

APPLAUSE & SALUTE ! ! !

The only one of those I've seen in real life, up close and personal was at the Silent Wings Glider Museum at the Lubbock Airport, Lubbock, Texas. Nice to see one running!

Here's a link from our visit to that museum:

Dozers At Weare Rally

Hi

Glad you enjoyed the video, that is not the only Clark Airborne Dozer that makes appearances at Weare Rally the following are some shots from 2006 when heavy rains threatened to washout the entree road just as it comes on the fields one of our club members went to work with his Clark to dig a diversion channel and solve the problem.

We have also had some slightly larger dozers attend.
