Alternator readings question

Electricity was never my favorite thing..... I have a question on my charging system.

My GEN lights are both nice and bright with key on, engine off. When the truck is running at idle, the GEN 2 light is on fairly bright. As I rev the engine, the GEN 2 light gets dimmer, but not completely off.

At idle I get a reading of 29.8 volts from my right side alternator, and 14.5 from my left side alternator.

While the engine is idling, I get a reading of 15.2 volts on front battery, and 14.5 volts from the rear battery. The reading drops down to 12.7 at each battery when truck is off.

I also seem to have a voltage loss somewhere when the truck is off. I have to disconnect the batteries if the truck is parked for an extended time. Do I have a defective alternator, or is something else causing the GEN 2 light to be on? Thanks for any answers. Hal

You could have a bad diode trio or voltage regulator in one of the alts, causing the drain.

I would rebuild them both(for peace of mind). Then see how things work.
