Alternator Wiring

Sorry to be a pain in the rear about the same old stuff. On my passinger side altinator i have a red wire and with it is a little red wire. I also have another red wire that the hole is smaller than the pos post on the alt. The other post on the alt looks like a ground post. then i have the plug with 2 wires that is pluged in. it seems to be charging by the gauge. the 2 alt light does not come on. I dont know if it makes a differense or not. But where does that other red wire go. everything is all stock. I serched the tms. for 1/2 an hour looking. thanks for the help.

I don't think a Deuce wiring diagram will work on a CUCV.

When reading the CUCV diagram, you have to look at mulitply diagrams. The ones you need are E-09 and E-11 from the appendix from the TM 9-2320-289-34 tech manual

The Red wire with the white stripe is the 12v feed to the "isolated ground" post on the passenger alternator. This allows the two alternators to combine for 24.

The large Red wire on the positive terminal is the 24v output.

The small red wire is really orange. It is the 24v putput sense wire for the STE/ICE diagnostic system. Not need in everyday life.

The two pin plug wire is used for the alternator excitors system. If this plug is dirty, corroded, not pluged in, your alternator will never work.

Read the stickies for more details
