Alternator

Are there any current MV's that the 24 volt alternator will fit the same mounting bracket for the Deuce? I have 5 24 volt alternators and they have all tested bad. The guy at the shop suggested that I make a custom bracket, and purchase a newer model alternator that is still available to put in my truck.
Thanks,
Bo

I faced this dilema awhile back and chose to fix my military one. what's wrong with the ones you have ? Just not charging ? Alot of time you can change the voltage regulator. They are about 80$ NOS from the surplus guys and pretty easy to change. You need to open yours up and see which terminal configuration you have. There are alot of threads here on converting to the Delco alts but IMHO the military alt is a much better unit than throw away after market chinese made Delco style ones not to mention semi waterproof.

If I keep a truck I put a civi 24v alternator on. The single wire ones that I use have worked well so far on a Deuce and an M813.

I got my brackets from TM America on this site.
