Well guys set out on another recovery today at 0700 to recover another duece this time at smyrna TN. Meet up with Darrell (diffrent guy, hes a member on here but dont post) at walmart in athens. We rolled out towards Smyrna. Got in at 9:00 waited till gate opened at 9:30. Same guys that run the site are the ones that take care of the whole state of TN. So they already knew who i was. Like im never at a GL base anymore  Anyways. We walked up to Darrells truck, being his first duece he was happy. Then he sees the window. " no brakes " hes depressed. Pushes the pedal. straight to the floor. i got to looking. new bleeder screws, and new master cylinder. Told him were towing it. all it needs is fluid. but the sky was BLACK and im not about to do maintnance and it starting to pour down rain.

We pulled the drive shafts, moved a couple trucks by towing them with my duece. Hooked up a chain to his truck. Pulled him around outta the mess and began to start to set him up to dead tow home. Darrell gets the itch to see if it runs. hooks up a slave cable and it fires right off the bat. Hes happy now.

While i have him start to get the tow bar ready to attach i go check out and PM alphadeltaromeo's truck. All fluids and parts check out. Hook up slave cable. again instantly fired up. I let his truck idle and conminsed (sp) to hooking up my duece now to Darrells for the tow home. By now were soaked and its poured off and on for a while. We got the towbar attached, and chains, and such hooked up and ready to go. By time we got it all hooked up and ready to go alphadeltaromeo shows up. got to meet him and his family. He checks out his truck, and we tease him about fuel. BOTH his tanks are COMPLETELY FULL.. thats 100 gallons of diesel on the governments tab.

We rolled out of smyrna tn at 11:30, and head just down the road to get some lunch, and have a chat. THANKS FOR LUNCH AGAIN ANDY!!!! We go back to check a couple things out and air up tires. IT starts to POOR... so andy sees if his truck will fire without being jumped. He hits the start button. instant fire. So we roll out at 12:30.

That was last time we seen andy. We got down the road a couple mile to get outta the rain and stopped again to finish doing couple PM checks. Everything is a go, we hop in my duece and head for the house. We arrived at my shop at 1530 hrs. got tow bar off the truck, and got them unhooked. Drive shafts installed. now its time to take and bleed brakes and take it out for test drive.

PICS to follow shortly

Had a great trip to Smyrna. We had a number of things to accomplish yesterday, so it was a rather long day over all. Got up at 4:30am and left at 5am. We headed for Chattanooga to drop off a 300 gallon bulk milk tank. While there I noticed a mil trailer...so I took a pic and then he mentioned that he had an M37 and mule too. Pics included...we had a great chat about MV's.

Got to Smyrna and felt rather blessed that "Darryl and my other brother Darryl" did a PM check on the truck...even had it running when we got there. Many thanks for the assistance guys...was appreciated!

We headed out and hit nassy weather as Darryl mentioned. We took a different route home than they did. When we hit the south of TN, the weather became quite bad. If we had of been 5 mins earlier on the trip, we most likely would have gotten hit by the 4 tornado's that crossed the freeway. A semi rig was picked up and thrown across the freeway. Twenty or so homes were destroyed. We had severe rain and hail.

Ok...moving forward...headed to Chatt and stopped to buy 3 goats  on the way home. Made it to Calhoun, GA and had a slight fuel issue  but with some encouragement and key input  we were back in the game. For some reason, a few of the "chatters" last night had some fun at my expense rofl

Humility...alas...lol

Got home just before midnight...got the goat's unpacked, etc. and hit the hay!

Was a great trip, filled with learning and adventure. The family was awesome and my wifey, bless her heart...being that she's due with #9 May 7th...was incredible. She's a real joy in my life.

Andy
