I don't think a 250 Cummins would fit in a deuce without some major mods (too big). A 5.9 would be a much better choice. The LDS is almost a drop in.

can you turn the fuel up on a lds like you can on a ldt
From what I understand the LDS is already at about the max the design can stand. A stock LDS will usually outdo a turned up LDT.

As for the 250 Cummins, they made the same basic engine that put out 600HP.

i worry about how good a 5.9 cummins would hold up in my truck 15.5s load things pretty hard it would help to have a auto in there but cant thing of any that have the pto on the correct side

I dont think you will hurt the 5.9 at all. Its a very stout engine. it will cause you to destroy the Axles in your truck before you hurt the engine. Crank up the 5.9 and youll find your other weak links in the drive train ;)

Far as autos. what about the allison? is its pto output on the driver side?

at545 and at1545p have the pto on the pass side:cry:thats why they run the hydro winch on the a3s i know the electronic 5.9s hold up real good under load but i would be using a mechanical 5.9:?: i would want to keep my altanator and air compresser like they are now so i will have to make the pulleys and brackets from scratch doess anyone have the bellhousing and flywheel past numbers i would need to keep the stock trans

the 24v and 12v is essentially the same engine just diffrent heads. and you can actually turn a 24v back to mechanical with some mods. but either way. 12v or 24v (mechanical or electronic) simple fact is you will still destroy the axles and other stock driveline parts WAY before you kill the engine. thats why so many guys are hopping the power out of these engines.. They are so easy to make alot of power and very reliable power at that. slap that bad boy in there and go to town.

O yea might wanta think about calling randy ouverson up and getting aftermarket shafts if you crank it to much :twisted:

From what I understand the LDS does have some stronger internals than the LDT. I remember from your other post that your LDT is turned up more than any other I've ever heard of . Most people go with the LDS in the deuce to get the same HP as a max turned up LDT with the added strength of the LDS to keep from breaking things.

i know the rods of the lds will hold up better but how about melt down you know i was thinking about how i have my truck right now i truned the fuel up when i had the stock tires on there im not getting that kind of boost cuz my fuel is up that high i think its more to do with the load cuz of the 15.5s i didnt turn anything up when i put the tires on but it actually felt like it accelled fast cuz the boost is way up with the load and the fact that it makes more boost though the power range makes it pull alot harder .

How much boost are you running and what is your egt? I have turned y ldt up to about 22psi of boost and still run 1200 egt preturbo. I run a water injection system.

my truck weights about 16k lbs and I have to run up thru the gears pretty quickly as it's the fastest deuce anybody in our club of about 30 has. I dont see where a new engine would do any better unless you go with an auto tranny.

im just use to running truck with 44s spools built big blocks the club i run with rates how much fun you have by how stuck you get and how many parts you break ive always been the big dog so i push the limits with anything i build i dont think ldt motor is very reliable even stock or there wouldnt be so many low milage trucks with new motors out there
