Are some locations BETTER than others?

Just wondering if some GL sites have a rep for having better quality stuff than others. I know there are threads talking about which sites have better/worse people to deal with, but are there any bases that normally have good trucks/trailers while others only seem to have crap?

I know in the Navy when a ship/squadron is scraping/DRMOing gear it usually goes to the closest site. I also know that some ships/squadrons take better care of assigned equipment than others, so it stands to reason that a Marine or Army unit might take better care of their trucks than others.

So are there any known GOOD SPOTS out there or is it usually just a crap shoot?

Some GL site managers will let the military mechanics come in & STEAL parts off of trucks after the pics have been taken. Ask Bkubu....that happened to him.

Some GL site managers refuse to let anyone on "their" lot unless they are previewing or picking up.....and do NOT let people steal parts.

I would search on this site regarding specific bases....they are all different.

All the sites within a couple of hunderd miles from me (includes Ft. Campbell and Redstone) have nothing but junk!

Just kindding. Trying to cut down on some of the competition .

I'm not your competition. Unless you think everything within 3000 miles of you is junk. :)

My operation is expanding :-D.

To answer your original question, You used to see alot of rusty trucks up north on near the ocean but lately it seems they move all over. The last truck I got from Redstone (AL) had paperwork in it saying it came from New Jersey. At any given time you can see good or bad trucks at any location. What there is a difference in is some of the bases have more rules than others and some site people can be better to deal with than others. All the sites I've been to have been good to work with but I've heard about people having a hard time with some of the sites. I have no idea how they are out on the west coast.

Was at Ft. Meade today to preview and Sarah has changed their policy about previewing and picking stuff up. Apparently someone "borrowed" some parts off some CUCV's and so now she's not letting anyone drive up on the lot to preview any more, and if you are picking up you'll now be escorted.

I didn't preview my 1009 or 1008 before I bought them, but both were missing the shackles and the 1009 was missing a battery cable and some other wiring when I picked them up. I had to trailer both out. I suppose I might have been a victim and didn't even know it.

This sucks as Meade was always easy to deal with.

Any ideas how they treat Active Duty types who want to preview? I know all the locations I have called were all super friendly after I introduced myself. I just wonder if we have an "edge" if we have the ID.

That's a shame. It just takes a few bad apples to ruin it for everybody :-x.
