Attaching a timing light

Hey guys I have a question to ask your thoughts on. I am getting ready to final time the engine in my 52 M-37 and since I do not have the little adapter that fits between the plug and the plug wire, not that it would do me any good anyway with an induction timing light, but my idea is the just run a piece of wire from the plug to the plug wire and hook my timing light around that wire to get the engine timed? Has anybody done this? And if so how did it work for you? And as always I am wide open to better suggestions?

Best is to use any storebought plug wire sans boots. They will usually plug in and hold enough to time it.

You can get the mil spec adapter from VPW or MWM. My induction clip works just fine on this.

I use a 2 inch spring the diameter of the plug terminal. Slip into plug socket and over plug wire spring and my clip on induction light picks up the firing signal easily.
