If you check out the Tips & Tricks forum, you will see the Windows XP resize utility.... use that, check the custom size (think you might have to click an advanced button) and set the size to 160x160

I have broken some weird law of physics with my new avatar.
Once I tried to upload it, I got the following message:
"Your file of 47.1 KB bytes exceeds the forum's limit of 48.8 KB for this filetype."

Yes, will I need to resize it down to the 160x160 limit? I thought the site automatically resized avatars like it does with images.
I will go give it some photoshop love and see what happens.

The other thing I found was that after you set the 160x160 in Photoshop, use "save for web" as it will strip off the EXIF data that is attached to the photo. Not doing that will increase the file size, not by much for most uses, but a few kb extra makes a big difference with avatars.
