1000002556.jpgI recently rebuilt the motor in my newly aquaired 2004 humvee 6.5 NA. After getting it running ran rough and would not restart hot. Suspect the IP for not restarting hot. When I pulled valve covers to try and find out why it was running rough found 2 bent push rods on intake valves on 2 different cylinders. Timing was good when reassembled. Lifters were not replaced. New surplus heads were installed. Pulled head on one side and didn't see anything that stood out expect for the intake valve marking on all of the pistons. There's no damage just seems to have less soot where the valve is. Any ideas?

My question is if it's a clearance issue. The motor was seized when I got it, probably should have changed the lifters then. Is it normal to have a cleaner area on the piston where the intake valve is.
