Like the title says, I want the best battery that will fit. I really wanted to use an Odessey car battery, but was dissapointed to find none of their batteries fit. Looks like I can have a maximum width of 6” , if that. Not really concerned about cost.

Edit, I would prefer AGM battery.

I have Super Start 51-R AGMs in some of my equipment. I have been completely happy with them and the extra power. They are also made in the U.S. unlike the Mexican Odyssey batteries. I got good service from Odyssey batteries until they relocated manufacturing to Mexico.

The Miata battery is only 320CCA. The NAPA AGMs are 500CCA
You're definitely right, but I don't think a pair of 51Rs is necessary to spin that little engine at 24v. Lots of similarly sized diesels crank just fine with a single 51R (25ish HP Kubota B/BX with a D902)

I love overkill too & if it were a one-time purchase I'd pay for the overkill, but batteries last a few years & you're buying them again. Figured I'd toss that one out there for those who'd prefer AGM to flooded, but don't want to spend $450+ on a pair.

Miata - https://www.napaonline.com/en/p/BAT7581R

51R - https://www.napaonline.com/en/p/BAT9851RT

The most used option by myself on customer machines: https://www.napaonline.com/en/p/BAT7551R

If you buy online today (and pick up whenever in store) batteries are 20% off for the holiday with code 'HONOR'.
Perfect timing. Two will be ready for pickup Wednesday. For some reason, the store closest to me was way cheaper than several other stores around me. (There’s no NAPA in my town) That and the “Honor” discount made a huge difference.

Thankyou

I know you already got some, but I use these like the military did. Have had the same set in the first generator I went though & they still go strong. 5 years old at the time I'm making this post & still past the test no problem.

The Napa 51r battery also has a 36month warranty instead of 12 months on the Miata. I have bought the Napa version and the O'reilly version just depends on what is cheaper both work fine. For machines i sell they get Rural king non AGM batteries. not many battery manufacturers just different labels
