Best Configuration

Hello all,

Just joined and thinking about purchasing a Deuce.

Sorry if this is somewhere else, but I seached and could not find a thread.

Is there a specific configuration that is the best, or are all Deuces the same?

What I mean is this:
Is a Continental engine better then a Hercules?
Is a Kaiser better then a Am. General.?
Is a 1972 A.G. better then a 1974 A.G.

What is the best setup I should be looking for?

The trucks were built to the same specifications with minor variations. C & D turbos 1 whistles 1 does'nt. Transmission 1 has a minor overdrive 1 does'nt older trucks do not have the airshift option. Continental, Hercules, White same recipe, same pie. Most of whats out there now is 1972 or newer and the big difference is the options. Dropsides, hardtops, heaters, springseats, winches, troopseats, cargo covers, wheels & tires, and the list goes on. I buy trucks and take the parts I want to build my keeper into what I want. It may not be an "original" but I have a truck that is hard to buy with all the extras in one purchase. The truck to keep a keen eye out for is the one that suits you. See if there is a member nearby you that you can meet and look at one of these trucks in person. If you choose to buy from a private owner be cautious, don't buy unless there is a clear title or the proper paperwork from that state showing total & clear ownership. Some of the late 80s models may have dual circuit brakes.

Other than that, all the same except for different models, if it's a m35a2, it's a m35a2.
