Big crane truck

I have been driving by this truck for three years, was it made for the military or just bought off the shelf, so to speak.It says U.S. Navy on the side and has a registration #, no military type data plates in the cab that I could see.

P&H 855? Actually that capacity lattice boom crane truck is still in demand for tilt wall building erection. Your example needs some love . . .

If your P&H has hydraulic actuated controls like mine, originally filled with DOT 3 brake fluid, then I suggest switching to DOT 5. Sticky, corroded slave cylinders can be dangerous, for example, in losing control of the swing.

Another maintenance item is turntable grease. Common grease is a mixture of oil and calcium soap, and it hardens when the oil is lost over time. Hard grease can cause the roller bearings inside a P&H turntable to bind, and that can be dangerous. New oil may soften up old grease.
