Bow Straps

I have a new pair of cotton straps for my MUTT's bow. Also have four fastening pins. So, in the absence of any evidence of an earlier strap installation, how do I attach them? Anyone have a diagram or pictures - or good description? Thanks!!

the metal tip of the strap is riveted to the bow,I don't know what the pins are for
