Brand New & Bought My Truck

Hello everyone,
I am new here and have been watching this site closely for a while now.
Today, I bought my hmmwv.
1987 M998, originally posted in Maine as a depot truck assigned to a LT. WARD of the national guard.
It has 31,000 miles, updated LED headlights and street legal vehicle title and status in my state (Minnesota).
I purchased it from a guy about three hours south of my home, he posted an add on craigslist.
It is a four door, soft top crew cover with a full size rear cargo cover. The crew cover is newer I would guess a few years old and the rear cargo cover is brand new.
The doors are plastic canvas type with thin metal framing and zipping windows. I am sorry, I am sure there is a specific name for the covers and doors but, I am new to this entire field.

The truck runs very well, but I have a few questions that are probably very stupid.
Every once in a while the engine will increase RPMS and the voltage indicator will increase to red line.
I am assuming it is charging the batteries and is completely normal but, how often should this happen and is there anything I can do to help charging or battery life?

The drivers side rear tire at low speeds and during turns for the most part, will produce a rapid thumping noise as if the tire is flat. Once speed increases the sound stop. What is this exactly and how can I fix it? Is it a U joint and if it is, is it a big expensive job to replace?

The brakes. The brakes dont seem to be all that great at the moment. When stopping for a red light in traffic, the truck would stop but I could feel it gently very slightly bouncing or rocking back and forth. The parking brake works with very little strain but, parking at a deeper degree the parking brake lets the truck slowly slip and roll slowly inch by inch. Same question, is this a big job and expensive? What can I expect overall?

I am thrilled to finally have my humvee. The cold windy loud three hour ride home was fun. I am sure every wheel on the road seen a woodland camo hmmwv and a big cheesy smile behind the wheel.

What upgrades do I have to do?
What is good practice for 24v to 12v converters and device setups?
Should I rip it apart and repaint it?
I plan to fabricate my own doors in the future, is there a market for my current doors? I dont care if it doesnt make money, I just dont want to waste anything when someone else could use it. If all else fails, I have seen the free section of this site and that is certainly an option.

I am not a mechanic or professional tradesman and this is a new project for me. I know how to garage fabricate things that I need and have most of the tools I need to do just about anything. I built an off the grid home out of an old school bus and I have wired up enough crown vics in the middle of the night, I am comfortable and I can find my way around these projects and know when to hire it out.

So, please tell me everything. Give me ideas, share your experience, spread your wisdom with me!
Thanks,
Del
