Calif. September 2018 - Camp Delta Fall Swap Meet, MV Gathering at Tower Park Resort
The Camp Delta Fall Swap Meet and MV Gathering returns this September 18-23, 2018 to Tower Park Resort after one of the most successful Fall meets there in 2017. New details are on the event calendar listing on www.MVCCNews.net
The boating area and campground is at 14900 West Hwy 12, Lodi, CA, six miles west of I-5 where hotels are located. For years it has been the second largest annual MV event in the West. No vendor fee, just your campsite or cabin rental. No admission fee for day-visitors commuting from home or hotels. Exception is for those wishing to use the new water park. No MV registration fee, bring them all and in any condition. Free visitor parking on the adjacent, shady levee road. Park trailers by the Tower Park entrance, river side of the road this year (our old lot is now a mini-golf course).
Moving the 2017 Fall meet from Campground 4 to CG2 and it's southern extension CG3 really helped that event because it was nearly all military in there. The "civilians" mostly prefer CG4 for proximity to the pools and play facilities. We had more shade, no dust, and we were protected from the wind by the levee and big trees. This area is close to the store and restaurant, which has changed hands and is now open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
On the Military Vehicle Collectors of California website on the event page, note the campground map with explanations. See the new cabins in CG2. As of this writing there is a cabin and a couple campsites available in our area, plus others in the newly renovated CG1 next door, and in CG4. If any cancellations happen the sites will pop back into the reservation system. To rent a campsite or cabin go to www.towerparkresort.com and go to the "Book Now" button. Scroll down to see "Package Deals." It is no longer possible to rent a site with our group discount, but there may be a "Package Deal" that brings a similar discount. It is OK to share sites. One person must be the official renter.
Military radio fans will want to check out the Battalion COMM Center for displays and demos by the West Coast Military Radio Collectors Group. This will include offsite units using HF voice, CW stations, plus some VHF equipment. Saturday at 2000 is their standing, California-wide radio net. Check it out!
Prepare for news about our big April meet!
